Coronation Pieces 2

The second piece that I did for coronation was the creation of a Herald Extraordinary.  Now I've seen one of these given out before but this is one of Drachenwalds rarest awards and I was quite pleased to be offered the chance.

This is quite possibly the best example to date of the Gothic Bastarde hand that I have been practicing.  The initial is from the Macclesfield Alphabet book, and is quite rude.  I love it, because it made me giggle.

TEXT:
Based upon the Grant of arms to Christopher Brown, 1480

Go forth to all and cry that Paul Drachenwald's king and Aryanhwy his chosen queen do send loving greetings. Reason ordains that men virtuous and of noble courage be rewarded for their merits by renown and that not only their
persons in this mortal life so brief and transitory but after them those who shall issue of their bodies in posterity may be in all places of great honour perpetually shining brightly before others. Not only by common renown but also by report and witness of other noble men worthy of credence truly advertize and certify that Thomas Flamanc of Kelsale is a gentleman. By virtue of the authority and power granted and attributed to the office of sovereign We devise, ordain and assign to Thomas the rank and title of herald extraordinary to have and to hold for himself and his posterity and for them to invest for ever, accompanying this rank is the right to register with the royal college of heralds a personal heraldic title most appropriate to his honour . Therefore in witness of this we the aforementioned Paul and Aryanhwy have signed with our hand and sealed with our seal these presents. Made and given on the V th day of January the year of grace XLVII.
